<br />PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS <br /> <br />Must be able to work. varying climatic conditi 3 and be able to walk <br />extensively and be in sufficiently good health to perform job duties. <br /> <br />QUALIFICATIONS <br /> <br />Knowledge of: <br /> <br />General principles and practices of park operations. <br /> <br />Nature and wildlife. <br /> <br />Principles of conservation. <br /> <br />Methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in park maintenance <br />and patrol. <br /> <br />Rules and regulations of city's parks and open space areas. <br />First Aid and CPR. <br /> <br />Basic law enforcement. <br /> <br />Ability to: <br />Read and write effectively. <br /> <br />Follow oral and written instructions. <br /> <br />Use sound judgment under routi~e and stressful situations. <br />Deal effectively with the public. <br /> <br />Work weekends, holidays, and evenings. <br /> <br />- <br />Experience and Education <br /> <br />Any combination of experience and education that would likely <br />provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. <br />A typical way to obtain the knowledge ~nd abilities would be: <br /> <br />Experience: <br /> <br />Two. years of experience in park and open space operations <br />and/or land management. <br /> <br />Education: <br /> <br />Equivalent to an Associate of Arts degree in Park Maintenance, <br />Natural Science, Law Enforcement or a closely related field. <br /> <br />License or Certificate <br /> <br />Must possess, or be able to obtain, a valid California Driver's <br />License and First Aid and CPR certification. <br /> <br />possession of, or ability to obtain, a Reserve Officer Certificate <br />is desirable but not required. <br /> <br />Must successfully complete the required orientation training and <br />background investigation. <br />
