<br />SWC:st> 4/3/87 <br /> <br />(#19) <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the nature of the Community Development Block Grant <br />Program, with its diversity of program design and administration <br />and its facility for being last resort funding, has often caused <br />the Congress and the Nation to overlook the critical value of the <br />program and the significant number of organizations and projects <br /> <br /> <br />that rely on its funds for support; and <br /> <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a week recognizing national community development <br /> <br /> <br />will encourage local governments, non-profit organizations, and <br /> <br />community residents throughout Redwood City to reaffirm the <br /> <br /> <br />significance and diversity of Community Development Block Grant <br /> <br />Program efforts toward meeting the needs of persons of low and <br /> <br /> <br />moderate income; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE; <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, <br /> <br /> <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> <br />That this Council does hereby designate beginning April 11, <br /> <br /> <br />1987, as "National Community Development Week", in the City of <br /> <br /> <br />Redwood City and does hereby call upon all citizens of Redwood <br /> <br /> <br />City to observe the week with appropriate ceremonies and <br /> <br />activities. <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />2 <br /> <br />10467 <br />
