<br />RESOLUTION NOJJ ~ 5l R 9 COMMENDING JOHN M. WARD <br />SAN MATEO COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS <br /> <br />ORIGINAL <br />UE.l .(, 1~l8D <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />John M. Ward has served all corrmunit ies in San <br />an open minded and effective manner during his <br />as Supervisor for San Mateo County; and <br /> <br />Ma teo in <br />12 years <br /> <br />WHEREAS, John M. Ward is leaving public service with an enviable <br />record of leadership and vision which helped bring the <br />County together on those significant issues that face our <br />growing urban area; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />his commitment to duty and responsibility <br />relationships were characterized by a <br />getting the job done, but with a strong <br />the human impact; and <br /> <br />and his work ing <br />ded ic at ion to <br />sen s it iv ity to <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this commitment to the County of San Mateo led to his <br />participation and leadership on the Board of Directors <br />and Chairman of SAMTRANS, Metropolitan Transportation <br />Commission, Central Coastal Zone Commission, Bay <br />Conservation and Development Commission, Local Agency <br />Formation Commission, County Supervisors Association <br />Executive Committee, Chairman, Airport Joint Powers <br />Board, Bay Area Coalition for Transportation, Chairman, <br />Emergency Services Council, Criminal Justice Council, <br />Superbowl Task Force; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, John M. Ward played a leadership role in numerous issues <br />of Regiona 1 significance such as; Chairman, County <br />Coalition to Stop the Peripheral Canal, Chairman County <br />Coalition Against Proposition 36, Chairman, Committee for <br />Better Transit; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, John M. Ward was supportive of projects and programs <br />directly benefiting the residents of Redwood City such as <br />the Fair Oaks Corrmunity Center, Heron Court Coop Housing <br />Projec t, Edgewood Park Go lf Course and numerous road and <br />drainage projects. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, <br /> <br />Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Redwood City <br />that: it expresses its sincere appreciation for his <br />signal contributions to San Mateo County and Redwood City <br />and that he wi 11 be missed as a friend and supporter and <br />to extend to him Best Wishes in his future endeavors. <br /> <br />* * * <br /> <br />10389 <br />
