Issue #38-2002 <br /> <br /> CITIES ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND NLC CONGRESS OF CITIES & EXPOSITION, <br /> DECEMBER 3-7--A MESSAGE FROM JOHN RUSSO, LEAGUE PRESIDENT <br /> <br /> On behalf of the League of California Cities and the National League of Cities, I encourage you to attend the <br />National League of Cities Congress of Cities and Exposition taking place this December 3-7 in Salt Lake City, Utah. <br />This will be the 79~ Annual NLC Congress of Cities and promises to be one of the best. <br /> <br /> The conference will feature four general session presentations by nationally recognized speakers including <br />Stephen Covey and Ann Compton, over 40 substantive workshops, 25 leadership training institute seminars, and <br />numerous host city mobile workshops featuring innovative programs that have been developed in Salt Lake City. <br />The exposition will include over 275 exhibitors as well as exhibitor sponsored workshops featuring the latest <br />products and services available to local elected officials. Workshops focusing on the latest technology will also be <br />featured in the exhibit hall in the E-City Theater. <br /> <br /> Networking events include an opening welcome reception in the exhibit hall Wednesday evening, a special <br />performance for Congress of Cities delegates by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir Thursday evening, numerous state <br />league receptions Thursday and Friday including the League of California Cities' taking place Thursday, December <br />5, 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the Grand America Hotel. The conference will conclude with a closing gala sponsored by the <br />City of Salt Lake that will feature live entertainment and wonderful food celebrating the diverse communities in <br />Salt Lake City and Utah. <br /> <br /> I encourage you to take advantage of the NLC Congress of Cities being here in the west. It has not been <br />hosted by a city in the west since 1999 and will be back east through 2005.
