IREPORT To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br /> From the City Manager <br /> <br /> November 4, 2001 <br /> <br /> Subject <br /> Final Acceptance - Maddux Park Play Area Renovation Project <br /> Engineering File No. 1302-02 <br /> <br /> Recommendation <br />That the City Council accept the Maddux Park Play Area Renovation Project, and <br />authorize the release of bonds. <br /> <br /> Background <br />Maddux Park is a .53-acre park originally constructed in the 1960's, and located on <br />Maddux Drive at Kensington Road. <br /> <br />The newly renovated park has a new sanitary sewer, storm water, & irrigation system, <br />new prefabricated restroom structures, new playground safety surfaces, construction of <br />new concrete walkway, sand play mound features, new landscaping elements, new site <br />furnishings, planting of new plant materials, new safety fence, and new playground <br />equipment. <br /> <br /> The new play equipment includes: <br /> <br /> · Composite play structure for school age & toddlers <br /> · 4-arch swing with belt seats <br /> · 2-arch toddler swing with bucket seats <br /> · Ding climber <br /> <br /> · 4~seat spring seesaw <br /> · 2 play houses <br /> <br />The park was opened to the public on May 4, 2002; however, the items on the final <br />punch list were not completed and accepted by the City until this month. <br /> <br />MIG, Inc. of Berkeley, California designed the Maddux Park Play Area, and the project <br />was inspected by Assistant Engineer, Tonia Tabucchi. The total cost of the project was <br />$530,148.09. One Change Order, due to quantity adjustments, was issued in the <br />amount of $12,202.09, which represents 2.3% of the original bid price. All work was <br />completed in conformance with the plans and specifications, and acceptable to the <br />Parks and Recreation Department, and Engineering & Construction. <br /> <br /> <br />
