10/28/02 <br />O R I G I N A L <br />RESOLUTION NO. 14 4 7 4 <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING APPLICATION FOR MAIN <br />STREET HISTORIC DISTRICT <br />WHEREAS, the Historic Resources Advisory Committee and the <br />Redwood City Planning Commission has considered and recommended the <br />creation of the Main Street Historic District; and <br />WHEREAS, said proposed Main Street Historic District consists of the <br />following addresses and parcel numbers: 726, 800, 831 -835, 839, and 847 -849 <br />Main Street, 1991, 2000, 2020, and 2022 -2024 Broadway, respectively. APN, <br />052 - 374 -140, 053 - 131 -050, 053 - 233 -230, 053 - 233 -130, 053 - 233 -120, 053 -233- <br />270, 052 - 374 -180, 052 - 374 -100, respectively; and <br />WHEREAS, the proposed area contains improvements which have a <br />special character, historic interest, and aesthetic value and which represent <br />several architectural periods and styles typical to the history of the City, and <br />which improvements constitute a district section of the City according to the <br />following historic designation criteria established by the Redwood City Historic <br />Preservation Ordinance (Chapter 40 of the Redwood City Code): <br />A. The area exemplifies and reflects special elements of the City's <br />cultural aesthetic and architectural history; and <br />B. The area is identified with persons and events significant in local, <br />State and National History; and <br />C. The area embodies distinctive characteristics of a style, type, <br />period and method of construction and is a valuable example of the <br />use of indigenous materials and craftsmanship; and <br />WHEREAS, in March 2002, the Historic Resources Advisory Committee <br />created the document entitled "Main Street Historic District," setting forth with <br />particularity, compliance by this proposed district with the Redwood City Historic <br />Preservation Ordinance, a copy of which is on file with the City Clerk's office. <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br />CITY, AS FOLLOWS: <br />The designation of the area proposed as the Main Street Historic <br />District is hereby established as a historic district pursuant to the <br />Redwood City Historic Preservation Ordinance. <br />r x > <br />F:Atty /Reso /Reso.1337 <br />102402 <br />
