DAVID MARTIN UPON THE OCCASION OF <br />HIS RETIREMENT FROM PUBLIC OFFICE <br /> <br />WHEREAS, R. David ("Dave") Martin, Mayor of the City of <br /> <br />Burlingame, California, has announced his intention to retire <br /> <br />from public office and thus not seek reelection upon the <br /> <br />expiration of his present term; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />Dave Martin has served as a public official for <br /> <br />the City of Burlingame since 1954, when he became a member of the <br /> <br />Planning Commission; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, he was first elected to serve on the City Council <br /> <br />in 1961; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, during his tenure on the City Council Dave Martin <br /> <br />has served as Mayor five times; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Dave Martin has been active in advancing the causes <br /> <br />of <br /> <br />local <br /> <br />government <br /> <br />through <br /> <br />his <br /> <br />participation with <br /> <br />the <br /> <br />Association of Bay Area Governments, the League of California <br /> <br />Cities, and the Regional Planning Commission, along with many <br /> <br />others; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Dave Martin's successful business career in the <br /> <br />construction industry spanned some 45 years; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this Council desires to recognize the achievements <br /> <br />of Dave Martin in advancing the interests of local government and <br /> <br />in serving his community upon the occasion of his retirement from <br /> <br />public office; <br /> <br />10053 <br />
