.,_ ---' 6/22/98 ORIGINAL RESOLUTION NO. 13370 RESOLUTION CALLING SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION AND REQUESTING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF SAN MATEO TO CONSOLIDATE ELECTION WITH THE STATEWIDE GENERAL ELECTION ON NOVEMBER 3, 1998 WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Section 9 of the Charter of the City of Redwood City, a vacancy on the Council of Redwood City has been filled by appointment; WHEREAS, said Section requires that partial term vacancy shall be filled by election at the regular election next following such appointment of person to said vacancy; and WHEREAS, the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November, 1998 is the date of the next regular election, being the statewide general election; and WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Election Code Section 10401, elections called to be held on the same day as a statewide election may be consolidated upon the order of the Board of Supervisors of thc County in which the consolidation is to be effected; and WHEREAS, this Council desires to consolidate the aforesaid Special Municipal Election with the statewide general election of November 3, 1998; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AS FOLLOWS: 1. Pursuant to the provisions of Section 9 of the Charter of the City of Redwood City a special municipal election shall be held on Tuesday, November 3, 1998 for the purpose of electing one (1) Council Member for a partial term ending in November, 1999. 2. The Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo is hereby requested, pursuant to the provisions of Elections Code Sections 10401, 10402 and 10403 to consolidate the Special Municipal Election of the City of Redwood City with the statewide general election to be held November 3, 1998. 3. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to publish or cause to be published in the official newspaper of the City of Redwood City at the time and in the form and manner required by law, notice of aforesaid Special Municipal Election 4. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to transmit certified copies of this resolution to the Board of Supervisors and to the Election Official, County of San Mateo.
