<br />EXHIBIT "A" <br /> <br />COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR <br /> <br />DEFINITION <br /> <br />To plan, organize, manage and review the activities of the Community Development <br />Department; and to provide high level staff assistance in community development, <br />planning, building safety, housing, and related issues. <br /> <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED <br /> <br />Administrative direction is provided by the City Manager. <br /> <br />Responsibilities include direct supervision over professional, technical, and <br />clerical staff. <br /> <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: <br /> <br />Develop and direct the community development, planning, zoning, building safety, <br />and housing program goals, objectives, policies, and priorities. <br /> <br />Represent the City in development and land use matters; participate in numerous <br />public meetings relating to community development issues. <br /> <br />Direct the preparation of agenda items for the City Council, Planning Commission, and <br />other Committees, Commissions, and Boards involved in land use, community development, <br />building safety, and general planning activities, and attend meetings of these bodies. <br /> <br />Serve as technical advisor to the Planning Commission, City Council, Board of Building <br />Review, City Manager, other City departments, and civic groups on planning, zoning <br />enforcement, and related matters; interpret ordinances and regulations as they apply <br />to applications; draft implementing ordinances and regulations. <br /> <br />Direct the activities of the various Community Development D'epartment Divisions, <br />i.e., Long Range Planning Division, Code Enforcement Division, Building Safety Division, <br />Current Projects Planning Division, and Housing Development Division. <br /> <br />Supervise the administration of the General Plan. <br /> <br />Research complex planning and community development problems and issues and prepare <br />a variety of comprehensive reports. <br /> <br />Supervise the preparation and administration of the Community Development Department <br />budget. <br /> <br />Serve as Zoning Hearing Officer; issue citations for zoning violations. <br /> <br />Serve as chairperson of the Plan Review Committee; serve as a member of the Subdivision <br />Committee. <br /> <br />Monitor population trends and environmental shifts. <br /> <br />Page 1 of 5 <br /> <br />~;j79 <br />
