<br />CHIEF BUILDING OFFICIAL <br /> <br />DEFINITION <br /> <br />To organize, direct, plan, supervise, and coordinate the work of the Building <br />Safety Division of the Community Development Derpartment. <br /> <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED <br /> <br />Administrative direction is provided by the Community Development Director. <br /> <br />Responsibilities include direct supervision of professional, technical, and clerical <br />staff of the Building Safety Division. <br /> <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: <br /> <br />Direct and participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, <br />policies, and priorities for the Building Safety Division. <br /> <br />Plan, organize, control, and evaluate the functions and activities of the Building <br />Safety Division, including building inspections, electrical inspections, plumbing and <br />mechanical inspections and plan checking. <br /> <br />Establish, improve, and coordinate the plan checking and building inspection procedures <br />of the City, and evaluate the need for and develop plans and schedules. <br /> <br />Represent the Building Safety Division at meetings of the City Council, Board of <br />Building Review, other Boards and Commissions, and at professional and public meetings <br />as required. <br /> <br />Perform the most difficult field inspections and review inspections and decisions <br />made by subordinates when unusual conditions exist. <br /> <br />Recommend and draft building and related code changes. <br /> <br />Supervise and participate in budget preparation and administration for Building <br />Safety Divison. <br /> <br />Perform related duties as assigned. <br /> <br />QUALIFICATIONS <br /> <br />Knowledge of: <br /> <br />Principles and practices of organization, administration, personnel and <br />budget management. <br /> <br />Principles of structural design, engineering mathematics, architectural <br />plan t'eview, geology and seismology as applied to assigned functions. <br /> <br />Page 4 of 5 <br /> <br />9979 <br />
