SPECIAL ORDERS: <br /> Proclamation: Honoring former Police Chief Carlos Bolanos <br /> Mayor Pierce read the proclamation and Council Members made comments thanking <br /> former Chief Bolanos for his numerous achievements and outstanding service to the <br /> community. Bolanos thanked the City Council and City Manager for their confidence <br /> and support throughout his tenure. He further stated his pride in serving the community. <br /> Council Members comments included compliments on Bolanos' honesty, competence, <br /> concern for other City departments, his response to the community, his strength as a <br /> role model, and serving as a trusted Council ally. <br /> Introduction: Police Chief Louis Cobarruviaz <br /> City Manager Everett introduced Police Chief Cobarruviaz highlighting his professional <br /> background and experience that he brings to Redwood City. He emphasized the <br /> reasons for his selection being that of the richness and the diversity of his experience <br /> coupled with the commitment and focus in community partnerships; working with other <br /> agencies and groups; and the vision of additional possibilities for the department and <br /> community. His strong reputation and extensive experience in training and inspiring <br /> other officers and employees to reach their potential is a key component. <br /> Police Chief Cobarruviaz commented on the many reasons Redwood City's Police <br /> Department and community reputations are held in high regard. He stated that the <br /> professionalism of the Police Department, the manner in which it has been trained, and <br /> the results in terms of low crime rate is what attracted Police Chiefs throughout the <br /> country to Redwood City. He further stated that he looks forward to being a part of the <br /> community and doing everything he can to maintain the quality of life and to control <br /> crime. He thanked the City Council, the selection board, and the community for the <br /> warm welcome. <br /> 6. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS AND CONSENT CALENDAR - CITY <br /> COUNCIUREDEVELOPMENT AGENCY <br /> M/S Bain/Aguirre to waive reading of the Consent Calendar except the ordinances by <br /> title, adopt the resolutions and the ordinances, and approve other items. The motion <br /> passed by a unanimous roll call vote by those present with Council Member <br /> Hartnett and Vice Mayor Foust absent. <br /> 6.1 Section — Motions - <br /> A.
