I <br /> <br /> REPORT ,o the Honorable Mayor and .C..,ty Council <br /> From the City Manager <br /> <br />November 18, 2002 <br /> <br />Subject <br />By resolution (1) approve Memorandum of Understanding with the International <br />Association of Fire Fighters Local 2400; (2) authorize proposed salary ranges for the <br />classifications of Fire Fighter and Fire Captain. <br /> <br />Recommendation <br />It is recommended that the City Council (1) authorize a new Memorandum of <br />Understanding with the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 2400; (2) authorize <br />the amendment to the salary and wage plan to incorporate the new salary ranges for the <br />classifications of Fire Fighter and Fire Captain. <br /> <br />Background <br />The City and the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 2400 (I.A.F.F. Local 2400) <br />have met and conferred on all matters relating to the terms and conditions of employment <br />and have reached a tentative agreement on a new Memorandum of Understanding, <br />subject to your approval. <br /> <br />The following is a summary of the specific changes tentatively agreed to with I.A.F.F. Local <br />2400. <br /> <br />Term: January 1,2001 through December 31,2005 <br /> <br />Compensation: Effective the first pay period closest to January 1,2001, salaries shall <br /> be increased by 6% <br /> Effective the first pay period closest to January 1,2002, salaries shall <br /> be increased by 6% <br /> Effective the first pay period closest to January 1,2003, salaries shall <br /> be increased by 5% <br /> Effective the first pay period closest to January 1,2004, salaries shall <br /> be increased by 5% <br /> Effective the first pay period closest to January 1,2005, salaries shall <br /> be increased by 5% <br /> <br />Retirement: Effective July 1,2003 -The city will contract with PERS to amend its <br /> current retirement formula for Local Safety Members - Fire, to the 3% <br /> @ 50 formula. <br /> <br /> Effective July 1,2003 - The City will contract with PERS to amend it <br /> current contract to offer the Pre-Retirement Optional Settlement 2 <br /> Death benefits. <br /> <br /> <br />
