<br />D~~:djg-c 5/3/85 <br /> <br />RES 0 L UTI 0 N <br /> <br />N O. 9 871 <br /> <br />MAY 6 1985 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION COMMENDING SAN MATEO COUNTY HISTORICAL <br />ASSOCIATION FOR ITS FIFTY YEARS OF SERVICE <br /> <br />ORIGINAL <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the San Mateo County Historical Association will <br /> <br />begin to celebrate its 50th year of service on May 9, 1985; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City is proud of its historical <br /> <br />and cultural assets and the efforts of the San Mateo County <br /> <br />Historical Association to retain and preserve its history; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Association has expanded from a small museum, <br /> <br />started in conjunction with the College of San Mateo, to a museum <br /> <br />which has been visited by almost one million visitors and is <br /> <br />recognized as one of only six hundred in the United States to be <br /> <br />accredited by the American Association of Museums; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Association currently operates or sponsors such <br /> <br />community events and facilities such as the historic Tripp Store <br /> <br />and Sanchez Adobe and "Victorian Days in the Park", arts, crafts, <br /> <br />and history fairs; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Association is one of the largest nonprofit <br /> <br />organization in San Mateo County, with a membership of over 1400 <br /> <br />individuals, families, and organizations; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE; <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, <br /> <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />The Council of Redwood City commends the San Mateo County <br /> <br />Historical Association for its fifty years of service to the <br /> <br />ci tizens of our County and City and supports its continuing <br /> <br />efforts to preserve the historical and cultural assets of this <br /> <br />community. <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />9 8 7 1~ <br />
