Mayor Claire and Vice Mayor Ira presented certificates of appreciation to the first <br /> graduating group of PACT. <br /> <br /> 6.. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS <br /> <br /> Taylor LaMantia stated that she has been a part of the citywide Children's' Youth <br /> Chorus since it started a year ago. She further stated that what she likes best about <br /> the chorus is that is fun and they learn lots of fun songs. She stated that a <br /> performance is scheduled on Friday, November 22 at 7:00 p.m. at the Veterans <br /> Senior Center Theatre. She distributed invitations to Council. <br /> <br /> Robert Slusser, Chair of.the 'Tis the Season Committee, sponsored by the Civic <br /> Cultural Commission, invited the Council to the event on Saturday, December 7 in <br /> City Center Plaza. He encouraged as many youth groups to participate in the holiday <br /> parade such as youth soccer, scout or other groups. The telephone number to call is <br /> 361-0801. <br /> <br /> Rudy Luca spoke about the cinema project and asked about a newspaper article <br /> stating, "City may fund the garage for the theatre". He stated that at the time the <br /> proposal was approved, the Council and staff indicated that if the package changed <br /> from the original plan that the project would not be accepted. He further stated that <br /> he believes the downtown can be revitalized with another project or more business <br /> than a cinema of 20 theatres. <br /> <br /> Pete Hughes spoke on behalf of Interservice Club Council and stated that a <br /> resolution was passed by the interservice Club Council that acknowledges the <br /> contribution made toward the betterment of Redwood City. Mr. Hughes encouraged <br /> City Council to annually adopt such a resolution. <br /> <br />7. CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> <br /> Items on the Consent Calendar are considered to be routine by the City Council and <br /> will be enacted by one motion and one vote. There will be no separate discussion of <br /> these items unless a Council Member or Citizen so requests, in which event the item <br /> will be removed from the Consent Calendar and considered in its normal sequence on <br /> the agenda. <br /> <br /> M/S Pierce/Ira to waive reading of the Consent Calendar except the ordinances by <br /> title, adopt the resolutions and the ordinances, and approve other items. Item 7.1.C <br /> was removed from the Consent Calendar for a separate vote. The motion passed by a <br /> unanimous roll call vote by those present.
