San Francisco, CA. 3) Items # 1,2,4,6 and 10 on the attached bid su. mmary in the amount of $468,107.0.0 from East Bay Truck Center of Oakland, CA. 4) Items #8 and #9 on the attached bid summary in the amount of $105,701.23 from Hoblit Motors of Woodland, CA. Background The Public Works Services Department, in conjunction with internal customer departments developed vehicle specifications for the scheduled replacement of twenty- five existing vehicles, one unscheduled vehicle replacement due to a major traffic accident and two additional vehicles to the City's fleet. (See Vehicle Replacement List- Attachment B) One of the additional vehicles is for the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department and the other is for a sidewalk inspector in the Right of Way Division of Public Works Services. The City Clerk advertised the bid invitation with copies of the bid being mailed to fourteen vendors including three local dealerships. The four bids received were opened by the City Clerk on Wednesday, November 6, 2002 and are summarized on the attached Bid Summary Sheet (Attachment A) Alternative Currently the twenty-five replacement vehicles have met and or exceeded their useful life cycle. It would not be economically sound to invest in the continued use and repair of these vehicles if they were to experience a major breakdown due to their age and condition. The alternative of not replacing these vehicles or purchasing the additional vehicle would impact the operational requirements of the customer departments since these vehicles are used daily for fieldwork.
