December 2, 2002 <br /> <br /> Subject <br /> Final Acceptance - 2001-2002 Slurry Seal Project <br /> Engineering File No. 806-02 <br /> <br /> Recommendation <br /> Accept the 2001-2002 Slurry Seal Project, and authorize the release of Payment Bond <br /> and retention. <br /> <br /> Background <br /> As part of the continuous Roadway Improvement Program, approximately 234,000 <br /> square yards of roadway was resurfaced with slurry seal. <br /> <br /> On June 3, 2002, the City Council awarded the construction contract for 2000-2001. <br /> Slurry Seal Project to American Asphalt Repair and Resurfacing Co., Inc. of Hayward, <br /> California for their Iow bid of $3'11,935.50. <br /> <br /> The project has been successfully completed in accordance with the plans and <br /> specifications for a total cost of $287,852.22. One Change Order was issued for a total <br /> credit of ($24,083.28), which represents 7.7% of the original bid price. This change <br /> order is for the adjustment of quantities. <br /> <br /> Alternative <br /> Do not accept the 200'1-2002 Slurry Seal project, which would be contrary to prior <br /> Council action. <br /> <br />"Fiscal Impacts <br /> Funds in the 'amount of $'1.2 million were appropriated in the 200'1-2002 Capital <br /> Improvement Program budget as part of the Gas Tax Construction and Transportation <br /> (IVleasure "A") Funds for the Roadway Management System. <br /> <br /> M.
