<br />Exhibit liB" <br /> <br />ARBORIST <br /> <br />DEFINITION <br /> <br />Under general superV1Slon, organizes and supervises the contractual <br />maintenance performed on City street trees, provides technical staff <br />assistance, monitors maintenance standards within accepted arbori- <br />cultural practices, and performs related work as required. <br /> <br />EXAMPLE OF DUTIES <br /> <br />Incumbent of this class performs professional arboricultural work and <br />provides technical advice and assistance to street tree contractual <br />maintenance crews engaged in planting, pruning, spraying, tree surgery <br />and removal of trees in park areas and on City streets; makes surveys <br />and inspections of City streets to determine planting requirements and <br />varieties of trees adapted for use therein; submits and coordinates <br />streets inspections and surveys with the Project Engineer-Sidewalks; <br />initiates new public relations programs, prepares reports, administers <br />contracts, supervises tree work done by both private utilities and <br />street tree contract and approves same; investigates and settles other <br />than routine complaints from property owners, and related work as <br />required. <br /> <br />MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS <br /> <br />Knowledge of: <br /> <br />All aspect of arboriculture and related practical techniques; <br />familiarity of municipal forestry and landscaping practices; <br />knowledge of horticultural practices; knowledge of the <br />principles and practices of supervision and practices of <br />supervision and leadership. <br /> <br />and <br /> <br />Ability to: <br /> <br />Plan, direct, and coordinate and evaluate the work <br />performance of contract crews and subordinates; <br />Work effectively with and maintain harmonious relations <br />with other employees, the general public and contract <br />personnel. <br /> <br />and <br />
