<br />Park and Recreation Commission <br />Minutes of January 24, 2007 <br /> <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />ITEM 2 - SUB-COMMITTEE REPORT <br />-Park Rules Enforcement <br />Vice Chairperson White spoke about the sub-committee's strategy to <br />determine how the park rules could be enforced and reported that three <br />areas were identified: Public Education and Communication, Community <br />Partnerships, Physical Presence. He stated the sub-committee would like the <br />park rules to go to City Council for approval on February 5 and that they <br />would like to advise the Council that the Commission will continue to work on <br />plans for the three areas of enforcement. Chairperson Slusser asked staff to <br />incorporate the three areas of enforcement into the staff report and that staff <br />and the sub-committee will come up with methodologies. <br /> <br />ITEM 3 - REVIEW AND PRIORITIZE 2007 COMMISSION WORKPLAN <br /> <br />Chairperson Slusser asked that this item be tabled until the February <br />meeting and asked the Commissioners to bring their list of prioritized work <br />plan items and bring to the next meeting. <br /> <br />ITEM 4 - UPDATE <br /> <br />-Park Standard and Development Ordinance <br />Director Centeno announced staff will be meeting with the Council Finance <br />Committee on January 29. <br /> <br />-Parks for the Future <br />Director Centeno said she has been invited to a meeting on February 2 to <br />discuss the possibility of putting this item back on the ballot. <br /> <br />-Red Morton Synthetic Turf Project <br />Superintendent Hover reported that the turf installed on Griffin and Bechet <br />fields does not meet our standards. The contractor and our Engineering staff <br />are working to resolve the problem. The contractor has allowed use of the <br />field to accommodate the start of softball season. <br /> <br />-Pet Parade <br />Commissioner Joseph announced the Pet Parade will be held on Saturday, <br />June 2 on Theater Way and also spoke about the plans for the event. <br /> <br />-Solari Windmill <br />Superintendent Hover reported the project is moving forward and has <br />received the approval from the Historic Resources Advisory Committee. The <br />Native Sons of the Golden West have volunteered to begin restoration of the <br />windmill. Dedication is scheduled for May 28. Commissioner Joseph noted <br />that fundraising for the project will begin in March. <br />
