<br />n~B:djg-c 5/4/84 <br /> <br />RES 0 L UTI 0 N <br /> <br />N O. <br /> <br />9564 <br /> <br />ORIGiNAL <br />MAY 7 1984 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION SUPPORTING PROPOSITION 18 WHICH PLACES BEFORE <br />THE VOTERS OF CALIFORNIA JUNE 5, 1984 A BOND MEASURE TO <br />PROVIDE FUNDING FOR PARKS AND RECREATIONAL LAND ACQUISITION, <br />DEVELOPMENT AND OTHER RELATED PURPOSES <br /> <br />WHEREAS, leisure facilities and open spaces in both urban <br /> <br />and rural areas are a necessity to life, since they have a <br /> <br />substantial effect on mental and physical health, economic <br /> <br />productivity and social problems; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Proposition 18 would place before the voters of <br /> <br />California a measure to provide financing of a program of <br /> <br />acquiring, developing, or restoring real property for state and <br /> <br />local <br /> <br />park, <br /> <br />beach, <br /> <br />recreational <br /> <br />or <br /> <br />historical <br /> <br />resources <br /> <br />preservation purposes; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the <br /> <br />proposed <br /> <br />program <br /> <br />will <br /> <br />make <br /> <br />available <br /> <br />addi tional, or augment existing, recreation areas and add or <br /> <br />improve facilities in and near population centers; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, enhancement of parks, conservation of natural <br /> <br />resources and historic preservation projects have a direct <br /> <br />economic benefit to our community and the state as a whole; and <br /> <br />moreover, will benefit the health and well-being of Californians. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE; <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, <br /> <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />1.
