FEBRUARY 9, 2007 E~tNf81,~~ <br />Proposal for Engineering Services ~1 <br />Bridge Preventive Maintenance Plan <br />(BPMP) for City Bridges <br />SCOPE OF WORK <br />Dokken Engineering will perform the following services: <br />Task 1 -Preliminary Investigation <br />• Obtain the Bridge Maintenance Reports, as built plans, Structure Inventory and Appraisal <br />(SI&A) sheets for each of the City's bridges. <br />• Review the Maintenance Reports noting work recommended by inspectors and condition <br />of elements of each bridge. Dokken Engineering will prepare a preliminary list of City <br />bridges along with repairs indicated in the Maintenance Reports. A Senior Bridge <br />Engineer will review the Maintenance Reports to ensure the maintenance indicated for <br />each bridge is appropriate. <br />• Interview inspection and maintenance personnel if there are any items on the <br />maintenance reports that need discussion or clarification. <br />• Field review selected bridges to verify scope and extent of work needed. <br />• Assist the City to develop a systematic procedure to prioritize maintenance and repairs. <br />Dokken Engineering will document the process used to develop the systematic approach <br />for the files. Dokken Engineering will prepare justification for any Preventive <br />Maintenance for bridges that are eligible for rehabilitation or replacement under the <br />HBP guidelines. <br />Task 2 -BPMP <br />• Prepare and submit Cost Estimates for repairs and the Draft BPMP in accordance with <br />the template in the BPMP funding guidelines. An electronic version of the BPMP will be <br />submitted for review. The BPMP will include the priority for funding (lowest number is <br />highest priority), County geographic location, name of implementing agency, bridge <br />number, facility carried, feature n~tersected, location, Sufficiency Rating, SD/FO status, <br />all Preventive Maintenance (PM) treatments for each bridge, unit cost of PM (total deck <br />area basis), Federal funds, running summary of Federal funds, local funds, and running <br />summary of local funds. <br />• Revise the BPMP per City comments and submit to Caltrans for comment. <br />• Revise the BPP/Il' based on resolution to Caltrans' coi~mlents. Dokken Eilgineer-ing will <br />submit the final BPMP to the City for approval and forward to Caltrans for their records. <br />Dokken Engineering wili prepare the cover letter certirying that the BPMP is in <br />compliance with the BPMP guidelines. <br />• Dokken Engineering will provide an independent review of the BPMP for duality <br />assurance. <br />
