An additional ten percent (10%) of sign <br />area shat{ be allowed for non-commercial messages. <br />B. General building sign regulations. All signs which are attached to or <br />mounted on a building are subject to the following general regulations: <br />1. Location. Each building sign shall be displayed only on a building <br />facade which faces a street, alley or parking lot. <br />2. Projection. Any sign projecting two {2) inches or mare from a <br />building wall shat( have a vertical clearance of at least eight (8} feet above grade. <br />3. Placement. Unless otherwise provided in the Redwood City Code, <br />the Redwood City Zoning Ordinance or in an adopted precise plan, no sign shall <br />be placed in a manner whereby any portion of the sign extends above a roofline. <br />Sec. 3.124. REGULATIONS POR PARTICULAR TYPES OF SIGNS: The <br />following provisions apply to particular physical types of signs described as: <br />A. Awning and canopy signs. <br />1. Number. Establishments may display up to three (3} awning or <br />canopy signs. <br />2. Illumination. if signage illumination affects the entire canopy or <br />awning, then the entire surface of the awning or canopy shall be included in <br />calculating the sign area. <br />B. Blade signs and under-canopy signs. <br />1. Number. Establishments may display up to three (3) blade or <br />under canopy signs. <br />2. Size. No blade sign or under-canopy sign shall exceed six (6) <br />square feet in area per side. <br />3. Placement. No blade sign may extend more than four {4) feet from <br />the face of a building. Each blade sign or under canopy sign shall be set back at <br />least two (2) feet from the curb or paving of the nearest street. Lowermost edge <br />of blade sign shall be a minimum of eight (8) feet from-grade level. <br />C. Drive-through service signs. <br />1. Eligibility.
