8A <br />CI"TYOFREDWDOD CITY Page 9 <br />Deputy City Manager (Continued) <br />Communicate effectively in orally and in writing. <br />Analyze complex budgetary, management cr operational problems and propene solutions. <br />Devise effective and efficient operating methods or procedures. <br />Make sound decisions in a manner consistent with essential job functions. <br />EXPERIENCE and TRAINING GUIDiELINES: <br />Any combination of experience and training that would Likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. <br />A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: <br />Experience: <br />Six to eight years of progressively more responsible and varied experience in public management with at least <br />four years supervisory experience of professional, technical and administrative staff; municipal management <br />experie,~ce preferred. <br />Training: <br />Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Public or Business Administration or a related field. <br />Master`s Degree and extensive experience working with the public is highly desirable. <br />License or Certificate: <br />Possession of or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver's license. <br />Special Requirements: <br />Successful completion of an extensive background investigation is required prior to appointment. <br />Work Environment: <br />Essential duties require the following physical abilities and work environment.' <br />Ability to work in a standard office environment with some ability to sit for long periods of time, with prolonged <br />exposure to a computer screen and extensive public contact. <br />Executive Classification <br />Effective: March, 2007 <br />Page 3 <br />
