The previously existing shed was used as a trash enclosure, and was
modified in 1976 for use as a storage area for tools and materials. On May 22, 2006,
the City Council approved the award of contract for the Red Morton Community Park
Gardener Shed Replacement Project to Tim Campbell Construction Inc. of Manteca
California for their !ow bid of $165,943.00.
Work performed on this project consisted of tree and plant protection, installation of a
temporary project security fence, clearing, demolition and removal of existing
structures, site preparation and grading, concrete work, structural and miscellaneous
steel work, furnishing and installation of rigid steel building and related work, electrical
work, restoration of existing lawn and replacement of removed or damaged landscaping
features, dust alleviation and control, storm water pollution prevention, daily site
cleanup, and other incidental work.
All work was completed in conformance with the Contract Documents, and to the
satisfaction of Engineering & Construction Services. Two change orders totaling
-$20,761.00 (12.50% of the contract amount} decreased the project cost to
$145,182.00. The cost savings resulted from a value engineering effort which
modified the structure's design. The modifications allowed for a more competitive
bidding environment among suppliers of prefabricated structures.
Alternative
Do not accept the Red Morton Community Park Gardener Shed Replacement Project,
which would be contrary to prior Council action.
