6.2B <br />Page 1 <br />REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council., <br />From the City Manager' <br />March 26, 2007 <br />Subject <br />Final Acceptance - 2005/06 Slurry Seal Project <br />Recommendation <br />By motion, accept the 2005106 Slurry Seal Project, and authorize the release of <br />Payment Bond and re#entian according to City procedures to Valiey Slurry Sea( Co. <br />Background <br />On August 8, 2006, the City Council awarded- the construction contract for 2005106 <br />Slurry Seal Project to Vatiey Slurry Seal Co. of West Sacramento California, for their low <br />bid of $633,465.34. <br />Slurry Seals are preventive cost-effective maintenance treatments that help to extend <br />the life of the pavement, and to improve the City's overall street network pavement <br />condition. This project is a continuation of the City's on-going Roadway Management <br />Program preventive maintenance projects. With this project, approximately 355,000 <br />square yards (approximately eight miles in length) of residential, collector, and arterial <br />roadways, as well as several paved parking areas, received slurry seal resurfacing. <br />Please see attached for list of serviced streets. <br />The project has been successfully completed in accordance with the project plans and <br />specifications for a total cost of $650,628.90. One change order was issued in the <br />amount of $17,163.56 (2.70% of the project cost) for a final quantity adjustment and <br />additional work, including four street segments, and the downtown Middlefield parking <br />lot. <br />Alternative <br />Do not accept the 2005/06 Slurry Seal Project which would be contrary to prior Council <br />action. <br />Fiscal Impact <br />Funds in the amount of $1,200,000 were appropriated in the 2005!06 Capital <br />Improvement Program budget as part of the Gas Tax Construction, and Transportation <br />(Measure "A") Funds for the Roadway Management Program. The $17,163.56 change <br />order will be paid from the fund balance of the Roadway Management System Program. <br />PAGE 1 OF 2 <br />
