Attachment 3 CITY OF REDWOOD CITY MANAGEMENT ANALYST 1111 DEFINITION To provide responsible professional, administrative and technical assistance in the development, administration and implementation of City programs; to provide highly responsible analytical staff assistance including conducting specific and comprehensive analyses of a wide range of municipal policies involving organization, procedures, finance, and services; to n~anage various projects; and to assist in office management functions. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS Management Analyst I: This is the entry-level class in the professional Management Analyst series. This class is distinguished from the journey by the performance of the more routine tasks and duties as assigned to positions within this series. Employees at this (eve( are not expected to perform with the same independence of direction and judgment on matters allocated to the journey level. Since this class is typically used as a training class, employees may have only limited or not directly related work experience. Employees work under immediate supervision while learning job tasks. Management Analyst !I: This is the journey level class within the professiona( Management Analyst series. This class is distinguished from the entry level by the assignment of the full range of duties. Employees at this level receive only occasiunai instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from the entry. SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED Management Analyst I Receives general supervision from an assigned supervisor. Exercises technical and functional supervision over technical and administrative support personnel. Management Analyst II Receives general supervision from an assigned supervisor.
