Attachment 3 <br />CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />MANAGEMENT ANALYST 1111 <br />DEFINITION <br />To provide responsible professional, administrative and technical assistance in the <br />development, administration and implementation of City programs; to provide highly <br />responsible analytical staff assistance including conducting specific and <br />comprehensive analyses of a wide range of municipal policies involving <br />organization, procedures, finance, and services; to n~anage various projects; and to <br />assist in office management functions. <br />DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS <br />Management Analyst I: This is the entry-level class in the professional <br />Management Analyst series. This class is distinguished from the journey by the <br />performance of the more routine tasks and duties as assigned to positions within this <br />series. Employees at this (eve( are not expected to perform with the same <br />independence of direction and judgment on matters allocated to the journey level. <br />Since this class is typically used as a training class, employees may have only <br />limited or not directly related work experience. Employees work under immediate <br />supervision while learning job tasks. <br />Management Analyst !I: This is the journey level class within the professiona( <br />Management Analyst series. This class is distinguished from the entry level by the <br />assignment of the full range of duties. Employees at this level receive only <br />occasiunai instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully <br />aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. Positions in this <br />class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from the entry. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED <br />Management Analyst I <br />Receives general supervision from an assigned supervisor. <br />Exercises technical and functional supervision over technical and administrative <br />support personnel. <br />Management Analyst II <br />Receives general supervision from an assigned supervisor. <br />Exercises direct supervision over technical and administrative support personne{. <br />
