Erin Lucien referred to various newspaper articles and a recent meeting at the Senior <br />Center. He stated that he wants the Council to support the legal residents not the <br />illegal residents. He further stated that as a general contractor, he has a direct conflict <br />because he cannot compete with those contractors hiring illegal residents. <br />Art Bush requested that the Council not honor the request to make Redwood City a <br />sanctuary city. He referred to a meeting held after the ICE raids stating that it was in <br />Spanish and that a San Francisco immigration lawyer gave instructions on how to <br />hinder criminal investigations. He stated that the Police Chief asked how many <br />attendees were from Mexico or El Salvador then said, "you failed the test, we told you <br />not to tell." He ended by stating that his fears will not be allayed if our community <br />officially harbors criminals. (Speech submitted and on file.) <br />Susan Moeller, Redevelopment Manager, announced that on Monday, March 19, at <br />noon the City is co- sponsoring a presentation by James Howard Kunstler at the <br />Commonwealth Club in San Francisco. Kunstler is an author of such books as, The <br />Geography of Nowhere, and The Long Emergency, and is a renowned urbanist <br />focusing on creating good places. Anyone interested should contact 780 -7359. She <br />also announced a free concert on March 31 at the Fox Theatre co- sponsored by <br />community businesses that features the Tommy Castro band which is one of the <br />hottest Bay Area blues bands. You can obtain two free tickets per person at the Fox <br />Theatre box office on Tuesdays and Fridays from noon -6 p.m. <br />M/S Aguirre /Ira to waive reading of the Consent Calendar except the ordinances by <br />title, adopt the resolutions and the ordinances, and approve other items. Item 6.1.B. <br />was removed for separate consideration. The motion passed by a unanimous roll <br />call vote. <br />6.1 Section — Motions - <br />A.
