The event presented an <br />opportunity to discuss local constituency issues and specific concerns and to participate in the <br />development of collaborative solutions regarding HRSO and SVP community re-entry. <br />Attending the event were key stakeholders from cities and counties, local law enforcement, <br />corrections and rehabilitation, mental health, social and prevention services and victims <br />organizations. <br /> <br />The benefit of this Summit to Redwood City was the opportunity to present our community's <br />concerns about HRSO release and housing, learn the facts about HRSOs, the parole and release <br />management and the laws regarding their release. The discussion and Task Force binder can be <br />used to educate and infonn local policy makers and our residents so we can play an active role <br />working with law enforcement to protect our families and neighborhoods. <br /> <br />The Summit presented several recently enacted pieces of legislation and their impact on the <br />administering of a sex offender management program that complies with applicable laws, rules <br />and regulations; mu..ximizes public safety; is responsive to victim's needs and assists the parolee <br />in transitioning from a prison environment back into the community. Detailed discussion by the <br />varied stakeholders regarding the profile ofHRSO's, treatment, management and release <br />regulations helped to develop <br /> <br />The High-Risk Sex Offender Task Force was created by Governor Schwarzenegger to provide <br />recommendations for improved Division of Adult Parole Operations departmental policies <br />related to the placement of HRSOs in local communities ensuring public safety is not <br />compromised.
