<br />CGM:mf 10/8/82 <br /> <br />RES 0 L UTI 0 N <br /> <br />N O. <br /> <br />9243 <br /> <br />ORIGINAL <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING FUEL EFFICIENT TRAFFIC <br />SIGNAL MANAGEMENT PROGRAM GRANT APPLICATION <br /> <br />OCT 11 1982 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City recognizes that it is <br /> <br />in the interest of the national economy to promote the conservation <br /> <br />of energy resources and to reduce our nation's dependence on costly <br /> <br />foreign oil; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, fuel efficient traffic signal management by this <br /> <br />City will provide benefits to the local community in the form <br /> <br />of improved traffic flow, reduced fuel consumption, reduced vehicle <br /> <br />operating costs, reduced air pollutant emissions and improved <br /> <br />safety due to smoother flow; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, funds have been established and are available <br /> <br />through the California Energy Commission for grants to local <br /> <br />governments for efficient traffic signal management projects; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE; <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, <br /> <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />A submittal of an application to the California Energy <br /> <br />Commission for a grant is hereby approved and the City Manager <br /> <br />is hereby authorized and directed to execute all necessary <br /> <br />applications, contracts and agreements to implement and carry <br /> <br />out the purposes specified in such application. <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />Adopted this 11 th <br /> <br />day of October <br /> <br />, 1982. <br /> <br />By <br /> <br />A'fTEST : <br /> <br />William J.
