She further stated that there are <br />many agencies that will step forward to aid in the restoration and stated she is <br />available to the Council for consultation since the topic is her expertise and passion. <br />Gail Rabbe, Friends of Redwood City, stated that after all the work on the Precise <br />Plan they are looking forward to resuming the update of the General Plan. She read <br />an excerpt from "Foreword - A Vision of Redwood City in 2020 ", a document placed <br />on the City website last spring. The excerpt spoke of the City bay front area east of <br />Highway 101 and along Seaport Boulevard. She thanked the City Council for <br />conducting the various citywide neighborhood discussions that helped create this <br />story in the Vision 2020 document. Again, she stated that they are looking forward to <br />resuming the discussion on the General Plan so that the community can make the <br />2020 bay front vision a reality. <br />Gail Rabbe, Redwood City resident, stated that now that the Downtown Precise Plan <br />is nearing completion she is now looking forward to discussion about the General <br />Plan. She encouraged consideration of the input already gathered and read a short <br />excerpt from, "Forward - a Vision of Redwood City in 2020 ", a document placed on <br />the City website last Spring. <br />Marianna Raymond, resident, educator, and member of the Sierra Club Cool Cities <br />team, stated that the previous speakers on the wetlands had been very eloquent. She <br />expressed anger in having to defend small parcels of land. She further stated that <br />there is a growing disconnect between children and the earth and she mentioned a <br />book called, "Last Child in the Woods ". She pointed out that although we are <br />surrounded by electronic devices, we are still hardwired biologically to need to use all <br />of our senses. She asked that at the appropriate time, the Council say no to <br />pavement, cars, and pollution, and yes to nature and recreation. <br />Rick Nordenston added his support to the previous speakers and encouraged taking <br />the opportunity presented with Cool Cities. <br />John Bruno, Redwood City Industrial Saltworks, stated that he was present to observe <br />and applaud the actions taken on the Precise Plan. He assured the Council that <br />although the Saltworks factory site will be winding down its operation in the next few <br />years, they do not have a plan or a project before the City at this time. They are <br />however, in the process of an extensive public outreach process to be able to engage <br />with the residents of the city in what their hopes, dreams and aspirations are for this <br />property.
