Ference, having well <br /> <br />and ably served the City of Redwood City for nineteen years, is <br /> <br />retiring on July 9, 1982; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Jack began his career with the City of Redwood <br /> <br />City in 1963 as Auditor/Accountant and was appointed City <br /> <br />Controller in 1971 and Director of Finance in 1977; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, along with his official duties for the City of <br /> <br />Redwood City, Jack has been instrumental in implementing higher <br /> <br />professional standards in municipal finance departments <br /> <br />throughout the State, having served as past president of the <br /> <br />California Society of Municipal Finance Officers, and has made <br /> <br />Redwood City a recognized leader statewide by the use of in- <br /> <br />novative and progressive applications of finance management <br /> <br />techniques; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Jack has been a respected figure within San Mateo <br /> <br />County, serving not only the financial community, but as a <br /> <br />civic leader as well, as a board member of the Sequoia YMCA and <br /> <br />as a Rotarian; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE; <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, <br /> <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />This Council does hereby commend Director of Finance Jack <br /> <br />P. Ference on his public service to the City of Redwood City, <br /> <br />does congratulate him on his retirement, and does extend to him <br /> <br />its very best wishes for many happy rewarding years following <br /> <br />his retirement. <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />9159 <br />
