6.2C
REPC)RT Pa9e
To the Honorable Mayor and City Council
` from ths Cfty Manager
May 21, 2007
SUBJECT
Final Acceptance — Redwood Shores Sewer Pump Station No. 15 Improvement Project
RECOMMENDATIUN
Accept, by motion, the Redwoad Shores Sewer Pump Station No. 15 Improvement
Project and authorize the release of bonds and retention according to City procedures.
BACKGROUND
On June 19, 2006, the City Council awarded the construction contract for the Redwood
Shares Sewer Pump Station No. 15 Impravement Project to Anderson Pacc
Engineering Construction, Inc. of Santa Clara, CA, for their law bid of$454,5Q0.00. The
project has been successfully completed in accordance with the plans and
specifications foc a total cost of$482,544.30. Three change orders were issued totaling
$28,44.30 (6.2% of the contract price), mainly due to unforeseen construction
canditions.
Sta#ion No. 15 was originatly built in 1982. This station is not the oldest campared with
other stations in the system built in the sixties. Howeve, the pumps and controls were
outcfated and rehabilitation was necessary to bring Station No. 15 up to current
operational standards. improvements included new submersible pumps in the wet well
which greatly enhances maintenance crew sa#ety by eliminating the need for confined
space entry into the dry weil. Recently instailed variable frequency drives increase the
efficiency of the pumps, and new piping and rehabilitation af the wet well will extend the
useful life of the station.
ALTERNATIVES
Council may elect not to accept the Redwood Shores 5ewer Pump Station No. 15
Improvement Project which would be contrary to prior Council action.
FiSCAL IMPACT
Sufficient funds have been appropriated from the Sewer Fund, Sanitary Sewer System
Replacement for the Redwood Shores Sewer Pump Sfation o.15 Improvement Project.

Gr e, P.E.
