This annual project has been successfully compieted in
accordance with the pfans and speccations at a tota! cost of $291,100. One change
order was issued for a credit amount of$'f,75Q, mainly due to quanfity adjustments.
The 2005-2006 Storm Drain Project replaced the existing siphon and bubb-up type
drainage structures with a contiguous undergraund storm drain system. Prior to this
improvement project, the siphon inlets were connected only by short pipes at street
intersections. Storm water fiowed from the upstream inlet, bubbled-up at the
downstream in[et, and continued to flow along the surface of curb and gutter until it
reached a proper underground sform drain system. The iniets stared stagnant water
which created aesthetic, health, and safety concerns. This project provided the
infrastructure necessary to carry water away from the inlets to prevent stagnation.
Areas near Hoover and John Gill Schools were se{ected as priority improvement areas
because of health and safety cancerns for school children. Approximately 800 linear
feet o# storm drain and related catch basins, curbs, gutters, and curb ramps were
ins#alled as part Qf the improvement.
AL7ERNATIVES
Council may elect not to accept the 2005-2006 Storm Drain improvement Project which
would be cantrary to prior Council ac#ion and deiay next year's improvement project.
FISCAL IMPACT
Sufficient funds have been appropriated from the Capital Projects Fund, Sform Drainage
System - Coflection System Upgrade Pragram for the 2005-2006 Storm rain
lmprovement Project.
 A
^ -
Grace , P.E.
