It is therefore
aesthetically superior to a substantial portion of existing
bay shore development along State Highway 101 in the vicinity
of, but outside the corporate limits and jurisdiction of the
City of Redwood City.

(5) Approval of the Project will provide a reasonable
balance between the exercise of private property rights by the
landowner, and the interests of the public in mitigating the
effect upon the environment of the exercise of such rights.
The Project responds to other equally important or more
compelling public interests (viz., the social and economic
considerations above mentioned).

2. In consideration of the foregoing findings this Council

hereby concludes and declares that the proposed General Plan

Amendment should be approved.

3. That certain proposed amendment to the General Plan of

the City of Redwood City revising the designation of certain lands

shown on "Exhibit A," hereof from "Urban Reserve" to the various

designations of "Residential," "Commercial/Employment," and "Public

Recreation and Open Space" is hereby approved.

*

*

*

7

9 1 ~3 1
