REPORT To the Monorab ~ Ma~y~or and Gity Council' From the C~fiy Manager June 4, 2007 SUBJECT Approval and Authorization to Execute Agreement for Information and Referral Services provided at the Fair Oaks Community Center RECOMMENDATION Approve and authorize City Manager to sign agreement between San Mateo County Human Services Agency and the City of Redwood City for Information and ReferraE Services provided at the Fair Oaks Community Center far FY 07-08, FY 08-09, and FY 09-10. BACKGROUND In 1982, the County of San Mateo first contracted with the City of Redwood City to provide information and referral services at the Fair Oaks Community Center to !ow- income residents of Redwood City, North Fair Oaks, Woodside, Atherton, and Portola Valley. Since thaf time, the program has grown to meet the demand for services with joint funding from both the County and the City. Currently, approximately 75% of the residents seeking services are from Redwood City and approximately 25% of the residents seeking services are from unincorporated North Fair Oaks. The Information and Referral Program provides information and referral, needs assessments, crisis intervention, short-term emergency assistance, shelter referrals, forms and translation assistance, housing assistance and advocacy, and serves as a "first-stop" for individual and families in need in our community. Working closely with the County's Human Services Agency and other local non-profit organizations, the information and referral program is able to help thousands of individuals and families in need each year. Past contracts have been for one year at a time. This year's contract is a three year contract which will be amended each year to reflect exact funding amounts. ALTERNATIVES Council could choose not to sign the agreement -and not accept funding from San Mateo County Human Services Agency for the Fair Oaks Community Center Information and Referral program. F15CAL IMPACT 6.1 B Page 1 The Fiscal Year 2007-2008 contract with the San Mateo Gounty Human Services Agency is for a total of $69,290. Payment for subsequent years will be based on availability of funds and approval of amendments to this agreement.
