STAFF REPORTS -

A. Water Recycling Feasibility Study; (802)

Director Public Works Services Director Ingram explained that the current water sales are
exceeding the contractual supply assurance from San Francisco by around 1,000 acre-feet
per year. One of the benefits of doing the project is that it would bring the total demand
back down to the supply assurance for the purpose of managing water in the City. Another
major benefit of the project is that it does reduce risks and protects investments during the
next drought. He stated that if the project were implemented, it essentially would drought
proof Redwood Shores because the water supply would not need to be reduced in the face
of a drought. There is plenty of recycled water even in a drought and in a larger context, it
protects all of the customers because it increases the reliability of the system.
