All cor(~ibutions are <br /> routed directly through the city pa~'oll Off'h;e, bundled in one check and deposited into the SOS fiJnd by Action for Better Cities. <br /> <br /> While the fundraising potential fi'om ~ emplo~ess ~ California is g~eaC the SOS fund is as much about "friend raising" <br /> as it is about fund raising. Unless cities and city employees involve themselves in efforts to protect local savices from state cost shi~ <br /> or raids of local revanues, it is dift'~ult to ask others to contTibute to the protection of local govemmant savice~ <br /> <br /> Thank you to I ~kewood, Signal Hill and ~ fur their lesdaship in contributing to. the SOS fund. This leadership hes <br /> already inspired other cities throughout the state to request similar presentations for their employee groups. If ~A~u are intecasted in <br /> scheduling an informational meeting regarding the SOS fund, please contact ~ur regional representative or Action for Better Citie~ <br /> <br /> LEAGUE HOUSING OPPORTUNITIES TASK FORCE: FIRST MEETING DECEMBER 13 <br /> <br /> The rccently created League Housing Opportunities Task Force will hold its initial meeting on Frida)', December 13 in Sacramento. <br /> This task force authorized by the League Board of Directors is charged with deve}oping a thoughtful and producrjve package of <br /> proactive legislative recommendatiom. The goal is to develop recommendations that will help meet California's growing housing needs, <br /> while balancing state and local interests <br /> and concerns. The recommendations <br /> will be forwarded to the appropriate <br /> League policy committea and the League HOUSING OPPORTUNITIES TASK FORCE MEMBERS <br /> Board of Directors.
