<br />6.28 <br /> <br />. Reconfiguration of Jefferson Avenue to calm traffic flow, and convert one lane in Page 2 <br />each direction, between Marshall Street to Middlefield Road, into additional diagonal <br />parking spaces. <br /> <br />On June 5, 2006, City Council approved changes in the amount of $454,228. The most <br />significant change provided for the complete reconstruction of Jefferson Avenue from <br />Broadway to Middlefield Road in lieu of an asphalt overlay. <br /> <br />During the maintenance period for the landscaping, three of the 21 palm trees died and <br />have recently been replaced. The improvements associated with the replacement of the <br />three palm trees will be restored by the DeveloperfContractor as part of the warranty <br />work. Staff proposes to withhold $100,000.00 from retention until the completion of this <br />work and until resolution of outstanding allowance items. <br /> <br />The final contract value for the City's portion of this project is $4,405,488.50. Change <br />orders up to this date total $601,592.50 which represents 12% of the original total <br />project cost of $5,103,896. In addition, a 3% developer's fee was paid which totals <br />$129,914.86. <br /> <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />There is no other alternative since the work is substantially completed and the <br />Developer and the Developer's contractor are entitled to a filing of a "Notice of <br />Completion" by the City/Agency for the Downtown Retail-Cinema Streets cape <br />Improvements. <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />Funds in the amount of $4,463,743 have been expended andfor encumbered for this <br />project.
