EXHIBIT "A" <br /> <br /> CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR <br /> <br />DEFINITION <br /> <br />This management classification performs responsible administrative work in the <br />coordination of the City's economic development programs, including commercial and <br />industrial attraction, retention and recruitment. As the City's economic development <br />liaison, works closely, and in conjunction with, the Chamber of Commerce Economic <br />Development Committee and the county wide economic development organization. <br />Provides technical support on economic development issues to other City departments <br />and external organizations/agencies. Program coordination includes the development, <br />implementation, monitoring and evaluation of projects. This position is within the <br />Housing and Economic Development class series. This position is comparable to the <br />Housing and Economic development Specialist HI (HEDS III). It is distinguished from <br />the HEDS II class by the degree of independence and initiative expected. The incumbent <br />in this class will be expected to work independently and exercise judgment in <br />implementing the City's Economic Development Strategy and related projects. <br /> <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED <br /> <br />Receives general direction from the Manager of Planning and Redevelopment. Exercises <br />technical supervision over professional, technical and clerical staff. <br /> <br />EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES <br /> <br />A. Managerial Duties <br /> <br /> 1. Assign, monitor and coordinate work of subordinate professionals. <br /> <br /> 2. Select, train, motivate and evaluate personnel. Provide or coordinate training for <br /> staff and generally develop skills of co-workers. Work with little or no <br /> supervision. <br /> <br /> 3. Work in teams to accomplish objectives. When necessary, be a team leader. <br /> <br /> 4. Manage interns or consultants hired for specific projects. <br /> <br /> 5. Develop, monitor and evaluate the status of the annual economic development <br /> program budget; and assist with the preparation of related budgets. <br /> <br /> 6. Work with and provide staff assistance to the City Council, boards and <br /> commissions, city staff, Chamber of Commerce committees, other City <br /> departments and outside entities. <br /> <br /> <br />
