Focus <br />on information which details who the criminals are may or may not have anything to do <br />with resolving the issue or preventing crime and making our community safe. The <br />issues before us and that concern us are making sure that we have a strong <br />community, good schools, and economic opportunities because it is these factors that <br />enable our community to be safe. <br />Gerry Benasch stated that the previous Friday some surveyors were out at Garrett Park <br />driving stakes into the ground of the lawn area. She was told that the surveying is to put <br />a road in. She stated that there is a road through the park and that there should be no <br />need to build another road. She further stated that the park is 6.9 acres, is home to the <br />golden breeding eagles and that she had been assured by Peter Griffith that there <br />would not be development in the park. She stated that it is ludicrous to build in the <br />canyon until something is done about the dam. <br />Lou Calabro, President of the European /American Issues Forum, stated that 5 to 6 <br />years ago, the Council issued a proclamation declaring October as European American <br />Heritage Month. He stated his purpose in appearing at the Council meeting was to <br />support Joe and that he knows Joe has strong but honorable feelings. He stated that <br />what goes on in the county affects him and all other citizens like him and that he should <br />be respected. He stated his belief that he did not lie about the statistics, but that to be <br />called a racist or a liar is not American. Calabro stated that the Council has the power <br />and needs to respect what little power he has and honor that and Joe. He stated that <br />European Americans have a right to ask for redress of grievances before our <br />government. <br />M/S Bain /Aguirre to waive reading of the Consent Calendar except the ordinances by <br />title, adopt the resolutions and the ordinances, and approve other items. Item 6.2.A was <br />removed from the Consent Calendar for separate. The motion passed by a <br />unanimous roll call vote. <br />6.1 Section —Motions - <br />A.
