B. Vice Mayor Foust - stated that the Charter Amendments ad hoc committee <br />consisting of her and Council Member Howard will be bringing to the Council some <br />Charter amendment proposals at the July 9 meeting. During that topic, the fact that <br />both the Port and the Library are somewhat separate under the Charter will be <br />discussed. Separate from that subject, she stated that she recently noticed in the <br />Port Commission minutes that the Commission adjourned to the June 13 meeting <br />and one of the agenda items was the selection of new officers for the next year. She <br />confirmed that on the June 13 meeting, before the new Commissioner was seated, <br />that the existing Commissioners decided to elect new officers for 2007 -2008. The <br />new Chair is Lew Miller, the new Vice Chair is Dick Dodge, and the new Secretary is <br />Larry Aikins. <br />C. Council Member Howard — regarding the Charter Amendments ad hoc committee, <br />asked City Attorney Yamamoto about deadlines for reporting to him any proposed <br />amendments. Yamamoto responded that he would be following up with the ad hoc <br />committee as a result of the memorandum that he sent to the Library Board, Port <br />Commission and Planning Commission advising them of the proposed amendments <br />and asking if they had any questions or concerns to contact him. He stated that he <br />had not yet received any response. <br />She further asked in regards to the Redevelopment Agency budget, whether <br />Redevelopment Manager Moeller would return with information regarding <br />sponsorship of events and activities of both private and non - profit groups designed <br />to bring people downtown. She asked for guidelines used to choose the different <br />groups, what the criteria is, and how are we evaluating programs before and after <br />the event. <br />D. Council Member Bain — asked about the status of the recruitment process of the <br />Community Tree Board. City Clerk Howe stated that the application deadline is June <br />29 and the process will defined soon thereafter. <br />E. Mayor Pierce — stated that if you have questions about the recycling programs and <br />services being planned and that SBWMA is holding a meeting on June 20. Any <br />concerns should be referred to Finance Director Ponty. <br />She asked if Council expected staff to return with an update on the sign ordinance. <br />She reminded the community about the Friday concerts at Courthouse Square and <br />the other concerts throughout the city. <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br />MINUTES <br />JUNE 18, 2007 <br />PAGE 6 <br />MINUTE BOOK NO. 61 <br />Page No. 426 <br />
