<br />9A <br />Page 3 <br /> <br />EXHIBIT "A" <br /> <br />SECTION 17. <br /> <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br /> <br />Section 17, in pertinent part, provides for the establishment of a seven (7) <br />member commission and a three (3) year term of office. It is proposed that the <br />term of office for planning commission members be extended from three years to <br />four years. If the proposed charter amendment is adopted, it would read: <br /> <br />There shall be a city planning commission, which shall consist of seven <br />members who shall be appointed by the Council to serve for four (4) years <br />each, and thereafter until their respective successors are appointed and <br />qualified, none of whom shall hold any other public office or position in the <br />City. <br /> <br />SECTION 19 Cd) LIBRARY BOARD <br /> <br />Section 18 (d) provides for a three (3) year term of office for library board <br />members. It is proposed that the term of office of Library Board members be <br />extended from three years to four years. If the proposed charter amendment is <br />adopted, it would read: <br /> <br />The members thereof shall serve for a term of four (4) years each and <br />thereafter until their successors are appointed and qualified. Board members in <br />office at the time this amendment takes effect shall continue in office until the end <br />of their respective terms. <br /> <br />SECTION 47B <br /> <br />ORGANIZATION; TERMS OF OFFICE: <br /> <br />Section 47b, provides in pertinent part, for a term of five years for Board <br />members. It is proposed that the term of office of Port Board members be <br />reduced from five years to four years. If the proposed charter amendment is <br />adopted, it would read: <br /> <br />Members of the Board shall hold office for a term of four years, except in <br />the case of a vacancy, in which event the appointment shall be for the unexpired <br />term. Board members in office at the time this amendment takes effect shall <br />continue in office until the end of their respective terms <br />
