ATTACHMENT ONE I City of Redwood City Notice of Proposed Increase in Water Rates 88 Page 4 Proposed new water rates The City of Redwood City staff has recommended that service charges and consumption rates for water be increased, primarily due to a projected 6.5% increase in the cost of wholesale water from the City and County of San Francisco and increased debt service associated with financing the City's Recycled Water Project. The proposed increases are as follows: . Increase monthly residential Basic Service Charge from $14.25 to $15.60, effective August 27, 2007. . Simplification of Rates Structure and increase residential consumption rates effective August 27, 2007, as follows: Existing Cost per Proposed Rate Tiers Unit Rate Tiers Cost Der Unit 0-10 units $1.28 0-10 units $1.80 11-25 units $2.26 11-25 units $2.30 11-50 units $2.84 26-50 units $3.75 11-75 units $3.63 51+ units $5.30 11-76+units $4.42 (A unit = 100 cubic feet or 748 gallons) . Increase monthly commercial Service Charge for a 5/8" meter from $14.25 to $15.60, effective August 27, 2007. . Increase monthly commercial Service Charges for larger meters by the same percentage as 5/8" meter increase (9%), effective August 27,2007. . The Citv Council will hold a Dublic hearing on Mondav Julv 9. 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at Citv Hall. 1017 Middlefield Road. At the hearing, the City Council will consider public comments, as well as any written protests against the proposed water increases. Your letter must identify the property you own by County Assessor's Parcel Number (APN), show the name(s) of the owner(s) of the property, and must be signed by at least one owner of record. The letter or postcard must be received by the City by July 9, 2007. Written protests may also be submitted at the public hearing.
