<br />ATTACHMENT ONE <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />City of Redwood City <br />Notice of Proposed Increase in Water Rates <br /> <br />88 <br />Page 4 <br /> <br />Proposed new water rates <br />The City of Redwood City staff has recommended that service charges and consumption rates for water be <br />increased, primarily due to a projected 6.5% increase in the cost of wholesale water from the City and <br />County of San Francisco and increased debt service associated with financing the City's Recycled Water <br />Project. The proposed increases are as follows: <br /> <br />. Increase monthly residential Basic Service Charge from $14.25 to $15.60, effective August 27, <br />2007. <br />. Simplification of Rates Structure and increase residential consumption rates effective August 27, <br />2007, as follows: <br /> <br />Existing Cost per Proposed <br />Rate Tiers Unit Rate Tiers Cost Der Unit <br />0-10 units $1.28 0-10 units $1.80 <br />11-25 units $2.26 11-25 units $2.30 <br />11-50 units $2.84 26-50 units $3.75 <br />11-75 units $3.63 51+ units $5.30 <br />11-76+units $4.42 <br /> <br />(A unit = 100 cubic feet or 748 gallons) <br /> <br />. Increase monthly commercial Service Charge for a 5/8" meter from $14.25 to $15.60, effective <br />August 27, 2007. <br />. Increase monthly commercial Service Charges for larger meters by the same percentage as 5/8" <br />meter increase (9%), effective August 27,2007. <br />. Simplification of Rates Structure and increase commercial consumption rates effective August 27, <br />2007, as follows: <br /> <br />Existing Cost per Proposed I <br />Rate Tiers Unit Rate Tiers Cost per Unit <br />0-15 units $2.26 0-15 units $2.30 <br />0-75 units $2.84 16+ units $3.75 <br />0-76+units $3.63 <br /> <br />The amount by which water bills at any particular property will be affected by these increases depends on <br />the size of the meter connection (in the case of commercial property) and the amount of water consumed. <br /> <br />The Citv Council will hold a Dublic hearing on Mondav Julv 9. 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at Citv Hall. 1017 <br />Middlefield Road. At the hearing, the City Council will consider public comments, as well as any written <br />protests against the proposed water increases. Your letter must identify the property you own by <br />County Assessor's Parcel Number (APN), show the name(s) of the owner(s) of the property, and must be <br />signed by at least one owner of record. The letter or postcard must be received by the City by July 9, 2007. <br />Written protests may also be submitted at the public hearing. <br />
