AMENDMENT NO. 1 <br />AMENDMENT NO. 1. TO THE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE COUNTY <br />OF SAN MATEO AND CITY OF REDWOOD CITY FOR PROVIDING FIRE <br />PROTECTION AND EMERGENCY RESPONSE SERVICES FOR THE <br />FIRE PROTECTION SUB -ZONE LOCATED IN COUNTY SERVICE AREA <br />NO. 8 (NORTH FAIR OAKS). <br />This Amendment ("Amendment No.1 ") to the Agreement Between the County of San <br />Mateo and City of Redwood City, is entered into this day of and month 2022, <br />and effective as of June 30, 2022, by and between the City of Redwood City, a charter <br />city and municipal corporation of the State of California ("Contractor"), and the County of <br />San Mateo, a political subdivision of the state of California ("County"), (collectively, the <br />"Parties"). <br />WITNESSETH: <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code, Section 31000, the County may <br />contract with independent contractors for the furnishing of such services to or for County <br />or any Department thereof; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code, Section 23210.1, County Service <br />Area No. 8 was created on November 21, 1972 to provide for fire protection and garbage <br />services in certain unincorporated areas of the County; and <br />WHEREAS, the Parties previously executed that certain Agreement between the <br />County of San Mateo and City of Redwood City, dated June 19, 2007, and numbered <br />068804 ("Agreement No. 068804," attached as Exhibit 1 to this Amendment No. 1); and <br />WHEREAS, it is necessary and desirable that the Contractor continue to be <br />retained for the purpose of Fire Protection and Emergency Response services for the Fire <br />Protection Sub -Zone located in San Mateo County Services Area No. 8. This geographic <br />area is specified in Agreement No. 068804, Exhibit C "Map of Fire Protection Sub -Zone <br />of San Mateo County Service Area No. 8"; and <br />WHEREAS, the 15 -year term in Agreement No. 068804 is set to expire on June <br />30, 2022; and <br />WHEREAS, the Parties wish to amend Agreement No. 068804 to extend the term <br />of the contract period through June 30, 2037; and <br />REV: 05-27-22 RL <br />County Contract 068804, Amendment No. 1 <br />County of San Mateo and City of Redwood City <br />CSA -8 Subzone Fire Services, BOS Mtg, 06-28-2022 <br />Page 1 of 13 <br />ATTY/AGR.2022/Amend.
