The intent of this work is to give the City
an idea of the interchange configuration necessary to maintain acceptable interchange operations
in 20 years.

Task 1: Initial BrainstorminQ Session:

. ". $4,000

Fehr & Peers will hold an initial brainstorming session to identify interchange
alternatives that would serve the forecasted traffic volumes. A follow-up meeting will
be held with key technical staff to identify the preferred alternatives and to prepare
basic lane geometry requirements.

Task 2: Alternatives Evaluation:

$6,000

For the three best alternatives, Fehr & Peers will create a Synchro model. These
models will be tested using SimTraffic to qualitatively evaluate traffic operations, and
to observe queue spillback, and the configurations will be modified as needed to
obtain acceptable operations.

Task 3: Civil Feasibilitv:

$7,000

Fehr & Peers will meet with TYLin staff to review the physical aspects of the three
alternatives. TYLin staff will provide qualitative estimates of the feasibility of these
improvements, and the secondary effects expected if these improvements were
implemented (Le. reconstruct US 101 overpass, relocation of the electrical
substation, etc). Based on their recommendations, we will consider further
modifications to the alternatives.

Task 4: Present Results:

$5,000

Fehr & Peers will summarize our findings in meeting with the City and in a brief
memorandum. We will adjust the analysis to address any comments provided by the
City, and will present a final memorandum with our recommendations.

160 West Santa Clara Street, Suite 675, San Jose CA 95113 (408) 278-1700 Fax (408) 278-1717
WNW .fehrandpeers.com
