RESOLUTION 14795 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />SUBMITTING TO THE VOTERS CERTAIN CHARTER AMENDMENTS AT THE <br />CONSOLIDATED GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, <br />NOVEMBER 6, 2007, AND DIRECTING THE CITY ATTORNEY TO PREPARE AN <br />IMPARTIAL ANALYSIS <br />The motion passed by a unanimous roll call vote by those present with Council <br />Member Howard absent. <br />7. MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST (CONTINUED) — <br />C. Council Member Bain — announced that the 16 Annual Police Academy will begin <br />on Thursday, September 6, 2007. The Academy is an 11 -week program that offers <br />an in depth look at the day to day experience of Police work. Community members <br />can obtain an application by calling 780 -7104 or visiting the City website. The topics <br />to be covered are canine, drugs, traffic, forensics, vehicle theft, criminal law, <br />communications, SWAT, jail, officer safety, use of force, DUI, firearms, defensive <br />tactics, and role playing scenarios. <br />D. Mayor Pierce — stated that at the recent Human Investment Project (HIP) luncheon, <br />the City of Redwood City received recognition in appreciation for support and work <br />the City has done with HIP. Commendations and proclamations were also received <br />from Congressman Lantos and Assemblyman Ira Ruskin. Mayor Pierce also stated <br />that for the next regular Council meeting she would be placing on the agenda a <br />discussion regarding the League of Women Voters offer to conduct informational <br />forums in Redwood City regarding immigration. <br />10. ADJOURNMENT —10:15 p.m. <br />M/S Aguirre /Foust to adjourn to the next regular City Council meeting on July 23, 2007 <br />in honor of Jack Ference, former longtime Redwood City Finance Director who passed <br />away on March 17, 2007.
