BACKGRDUND 4n February 12, 2007, the Council approvec! the original Agreement with The Kastrop Graup, lnc., in the amount of $66,500.00, to provide design and related services for the r�novafion of the Main Library'§ secand flaor, and refurbishment of th� heating, ventii�tion, and air conditioning (HVAG) system. On May 21, 2007, Council approved a madifiication to the language of the Agreement governing ownership of documents. The proposed Amendme�rt No. 1 wifl provide for additiana[ design services not included in the ariginaf scope of work. The origina! scape of work included rec;onf'iguration of existing space on the Library's seconcf floor ta accommoda#e Project Read activities, 5� additional intemet sta#ions, and create a new Teen area. The proposed amendment provid�s for supplemenfary design services, requesterf by t�ibrary staff, so that 20 of the 50 internet stations initially infended far the second floor may be relocated to the existing computer technoiogy Eab an the first floar. Project delays crea#ed by the coardination required to replaee the HVAC system alfowed s#aff additional time ta analyze the canceptua( pian and ta caliect input #ram library users. The additional design reduces demand by the second floor an the HVAC system, allows far computer station configura#ions which ean accommodate multiple patrons, expands seating ancf aisle space on the secand floor, and creates a quieter environment for adult computer users. ALTERNATfVES Council may choose not to approve Amendment No. 1 to this Agreement, which wouid fimi# the design for this project to the original seope of work. FISCAL IMPACT Funding in the amount of $180,783 is availabie for this project from the Fiscal Year 20Q6-2U�7 budget, Capital Prajects Fund, Main �it�rary 2006 Renovation, as of June 30, 20Q�.-� �� _�� k�� � S.
