This project replaced natural turf with <br /> synthetic turf on the G�iffinlBechet, Mitchell, and McGarvey sportFietcls which are tocated <br /> at the Red Morton Community Center complex. <br /> This project resul#ed from water conservatEon measures identified and rec�mmended by <br /> the Communi#y Task Force on Recycled Water in their report dated March 3, 2004 ta <br /> Counci{. The RecyGed Wa#er Project ailocated $5 miilion (later increased to $6.6 million <br /> due to cast esealation) ta fund the canversion af six sefected sportfieids to synthetic turF <br /> to reduce the demand an potable wa#er supplies. The instaNation af Red Nlorton is <br /> followed by a separate projed fo insta![ s}mfihetic turf an sportfields at Mar�in, Sandpiper, <br /> and Nawes parks. Fundin� from the Recycled W�ter Project for the turf conversian <br /> projects is supplemented by Proposition Na. 40 Parkland Block Grant funds and fhe <br /> City's Capitai tmprovemerrt Program, which funds the non-water conservation related <br /> components of#he#�rf conversion projects. <br /> The project was awarded fvr #he base bid of �3,957,280.05. Change arders (ten), <br /> totaling $119;3�38_98(3°�n}, were issued and finai project cost is $4,076,fi69.03. Change <br /> orders resulfed from urtfioreseeable site conditions, such as sail stabili�ation af native <br /> mud #a prevent future heaving and settlement, and quan#ity adjustmen#s of materials to <br /> complete the project. <br /> AL7ERNATIVE3 <br /> Caunci! may chaose nof to accept the project which would be contrary to priar Councii <br /> action. <br /> FlSCAL IMPACT <br /> Funding for the major costs of this project was appropria#ed from the Water Bond <br /> Pro�ects Fund, Recycied Water System De�elopment in Oc#aber, 20�6 and <br /> suppfemented by $542,61 fl.QQ from Proposition No. 40 Parkiand Block Grant funds, and <br /> Capita! Improvement Project funds. Upon compietion o# this project, $2.7 msllion <br /> remains avaifat�le from the Water Bond Pro�ecfs Fund for the remaining three spo�eld <br /> conversion projecks now undenivay. <br />
