Cynthia Cruz, representing Youth United for Community Action (YUCA), a non-profit <br /> grassroots organization based in East Palo Alto that works on issues regarding the <br /> environment. She stated that the Romic campaign involves numerous violations <br /> including four worker injuries, that the company has been cited for significant non- <br /> compliance, there is no permit, there has been a chemical release, a truck leak, and <br /> fires. She stated her presence was pertaining to the Redwood City Transfer Station. <br /> Larissa Flores stated that on May 30, the Department of Toxic Substance Control <br /> (DTSC) issued an enforcement order which shut down 70% of Romic's operations that <br /> included closure of the transfer station. In June, Clean Harbors bought Romic assets <br /> including the transfer station, and YUCA is encouraging Redwood City to take a stance <br /> to encourage the DTSC to hold the enforcement in order and Romic accountable. <br /> M/S Foust/Ira to waive reading of the Consent Calendar except the ordinances by title, <br /> adopt the resolutions and the ordinances, and approve other items. The motion <br /> passed by a unanimous roll call vote with Council Member Howard abstaining on <br /> the July 9, 2007 minutes due to her absence. <br /> 6.1 Section —Motions - <br /> A.
