At this meeting, the City Council also
adopted a Resolution pursuant to California Vehicle Code section 21101(e) authorizing the Chief of Police
to temporarily close City streets; adopted a resolution updating the Schedule of Fees related to events at
Courthouse Square and other Special Events; adopted a Resolution updating the Courthouse Square
Administrative Guidelines; approved directing staff to administratively incorporate the proposed fees into
the City's Master Fee Schedule; and approved appropriating $15,000 in one time funding to the Civic
Cultural Commission grant program to allow non-profit organizations which held special events in 2017
which required City permits to apply for grant funding to help offset any potential cost increases related
to City permits and fees for holding those same events between June 2019 and June 2020.
These recommendations were developed with the advice of the City Council Ad Hoc Special Events
Committee, who also met with non-profit representatives, and reflected feedback staff has received from
event partners overtime. The proposed approach attempts to recover City costs while keeping these costs
down to a minimum for non-profit partners.
City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.ore
290
