CLK-Pamela Aguilar <br />From: Darshana Maya Greenfield <darshanamaya@icloud.com> <br />Sent: Friday, May 3, 2019 10:59 PM <br />To: GRP -City Council <br />Subject: Please do NOT buy fossil fuel -burning pickups! <br />Dear Council Members, <br />I'm involved with a group trying to get our beautiful peninsula free of fossil fuels, and have been tracking some of the <br />issues you are working on in Redwood City. <br />I notice that one of the agenda items for this coming Monday is a request to purchase two F150 pickup trucks. <br />I'm respectfully requesting that you to postpone that decision, and instead have staff research the possibility of buying <br />electric pickups instead. <br />Purchasing fossil fuel trucks at this point is counter to goals of the Climate Action Plan, with its proposal to get to net - <br />zero carbon emissions as quickly as possible. <br />As I'm sure you're all aware, achieving that goal is going to necessitate changing from "business as usual" to more <br />creative, even bold thinking.
